Latest News: OnePlus 5 has officially been announced and the smartphone looks nothing less than perfect on paper. It comes with the latest Snapdragon 835 SoC, 8GB of RAM and what not. The initial reviews of the smartphone also are all praises for the device. However, in a recent development, an investigative report has claimed that the OnePlus has once again taken help of unethical methods to fool the benchmark apps. The company has manipulated the benchmark scores of its latest smartphone and this time around they have done it more blatantly.
This manipulation was noticed by XDA Developers. Making a report, it says that OnePlus 5 has resorted to the kind of obvious cheating that was earlier witnessed in the flagships early days of Android. This approach is a calculated method to maximize scores in the most misleading fashion.
Upon contacting OnePlus, XDA was told by the company’s spokesperson that people use benchmark apps to check the performance of their device and we want our users to see the true performance of OnePlus 5 and that is the reason why we have allowed benchmark apps to run in a similar state to daily usage.
But this statement contradicts what the reports have to say.
It is expected that OnePlus rectifies this mistake with a software update and hopefully, the consumer units will be launched without this manipulation.
